Perrin Bridge Project Update: We just received word that we cannot get concrete this weekend, so this weekend's work has been rescheduled for June 1 and we wanted to get the word out to all lodge members as quickly as possible.
We realize that June 1st is also our One Day of Service. Chapters can receive service hour credit for working at either the Council Office project or the Perrin Bridge Project that day. Please pass the word along to your chapter members.
For those just reading this news for theg first time - OA members of Mikanakawa Lodge and other Scouters will be building another steel and concrete bridge. This time the recipient will be Camp James Ray and will help to bring the Perrin Hiking Trail into reality. The bridge is planned to take 4 weekends to complete. These are the planned weekends of activity:
Weekend 1 (April 13) – Piers will be constructed to support 2 steel I-beams.
Weekend 2 (May 4) – The Steel I-beams, corrugated panels, angle iron, and rebar will be installed as well as forms built on either end of the bridge to support the concrete. This will occur during the May Ordeal.
Weekend 3 (June 1) – Concrete will be poured in the morning.
Weekend 4 (TBD) – Railing installed, forms removed, site cleaned up.
We will apply the experience and knowledge gained while building the Tim Conard bridge to this project. Approximately 12 people will be needed per weekend. As the Youth Lead for this I will assemble a list of people for each weekend. Please send me an email indicating which weekend you would like to help with and I will contact you with further details.
