Youth Only! Win special door prizes just for preregistering (Register Here) and attending the special 40th year event, including a chance to win an iPad!
The 2010 BBB (Brotherhood & Barbeque on the Brazos), going on September 10,11, and 12, will mark the 40'th year of brotherhood weekend. 40 years of experience means lots of excellent food from the Arrow Bistro, exciting events, fellowship, and more. When you are not participating in the Ninja Tournament, playing Fat Bat, bucking on the [mechanical] bronco, or entering the cobbler cook-off, the BBB is also a great chance to get your brotherhood and seal your membership in the lodge.
The fee for this event is a mere $20 if you preregister by Friday, September 3, 2010. All arrowmen who register after September 3rd and all walk-ins will be charged $25 per person. Anyone who registers after lunch on Saturday, September 11th will be charged $20 which will include dinner and a patch, if any patches remain at that time.

Greetings from the 2010 National Scout Jamboree!
Mikanakawa Lodge has numerous Order of the Arrow members on staff and up here at the Jamboree, including some of the lodge's leadership. From left to right: Reece Knox (Vice Chief of Service), Nathan Bubeck (Vice Chief of Administration), Brian Bennett (Associate Lodge Advisor for Inductions), Tim Conard (Lodge Advisor), Sam Bubeck (Vice Chief of Camping Promotions), and Jason Follis (Vice Chief of Communications & Technology). Reece is working with the OA Shows group in the Mysterium Compass. This show is open to youth at the National Scout Jamboree and provides an entertaining and educational break from the sunny activities found at Fort A. P. Hill. Here is a link to the OA show's website. Nathan and Sam Bubeck are at Jamboree as participants with troop 1633. Mr. Bennett is a Scout Master with NSJ Troop 1632. Mr. Conard is on staff with the Contracting Warehouse. Jason Follis is the 3rd Assistant Scout Master with NSJ Troop 1649. |

For the 2010 National Scout Jamboree, 79 Mikanakawa lodge members sealed their membership, joining the ranks of the Brotherhood.
Nathan Bubeck and Reno Morris Jr. lead the Brotherhood Walk and a ceremony team consisting of Bobby Hartmann, Rob McMenamy, Sam Bubeck, and Joseph Davidson performed in a beautiful (and enclosed) field at the Rapelling Tower station just on the edge of Sub-Camp 16. Jason Follis used lodgemaster to record needed information and assisted searching out members to pay dues. We had 55 Brotherhood and Vigil Honor members attend the ceremony. We had three guests from another lodge. The walk was noticed by the Southern Region Chief and the National Vice-Chief. Demand exceeded all of the 72 sashes we traveled with and the extra ceremony outfit sashes, requiring us to borrow additional sashes from willing members present. This was certainly a memorable experience for all involved. Thank you all for your support, participation, and leadership. |

As Boys Scouts of America begins its year long celebration of 100 years of Scouting adventure and continues the journey into the next century, Mikanakawa Lodge is pleased to announce the availability of a limited edition Lodge flap. These commemorative flaps celebrate one hundred years of scouting. Flaps may be ordered here. Note: The Single Flap is out of stock. Only the 2-piece set is available for order.
The pocket set has the spirit of Baden Powell watching over the Lodge as symbolized by the owl and three tepees. The tepees represent the three Circle Ten camps: Camp Cherokee, Camp Constantin and Camp James Ray.
The flaps consist of a gold border 2 piece pocket set, a gold border single flap and silver border flap. The silver border flaps are individually numbered
